This Communication and Language Long Term Plan for Reception is a comprehensive outline of activities and strategies designed to support the development of communication and language skills in children aged 3-4 years old within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

This plan has been organised by term and aims to address three key aspects: listening and attention, understanding, and speaking.

The purpose of the plan is to ensure that children’s communication and language skills are nurtured and developed throughout the year. The plan includes a variety of activities, resources, and teaching methods to engage children and create a supportive learning environment that promotes their progress in this crucial area of development. Each aspect is progressed through each half term and this includes, Intent and Implementation, as well as a progression of vocabulary covered.

This plan includes the Reception expectations for reference and to see clearly where children are going.
